Our People
The congregation at St Andrews has a distinct family atmosphere, with Sunday morning, and to a lesser extent Sunday evening service, being designed to cover the full age profile, from infants to elderly. A crèche is provided for pre-school age children in the morning, whilst older children remain with their families during services. There are two Sunday Services, 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, with a significant number of members attending both services. A meal (provided) usually follows the 5pm service. Congregational members are disbursed throughout the age range, and outside the Sunday Services each age group has a special program as follows:
Toddlers on Tuesday (TOTS) – A Christian ministry for mothers and pre-schoolers.
Kids Club – A Sunday School style activity for junior primary aged children, but held midweek on Wedenesdays, 4 pm to 5.30 pm.
Andy’s Club – An group for School Years 6, 7 & 8
Chaos – An group for School Years 9 to 12.
Interact – Bi-monthly outings for those “in between” young adults and seniors.
St Andrews Seniors – Quaterly Friday service & luncheon for “seniors”.
Men’s Teas – Monthly fellowship meal and Bible talk for men.
Ladies’ Teas – Monthly fellowship meal and Bible talk for ladies.
- Timeout - a sewing and friendship group, fortnighly on Friday mornings.
Additionally, there are a number of bible studies for adults and for youth.
Scripture is taught regularly in the local primary schools.
There are a variety of additional activities such as craft and sport groups, and group outings.
Ministry Style
We have a strong tradition for reformed theology and expository preaching.
There is also a strong lay involvement in ministry, with most Bible Studies, youth activities, and regular parish activities being run by lay people. Lay men read the Sunday Services and assist with the preaching.
Missionary Focus
The congregation currently supports several link missionaries through regular giving and prayer. Individual members also support people and organisations known to them through trusted giving via the church collection plate.
A monthly segment in most Sunday services is devoted to a missionary presentation such as Operation World, allowing us to focus on specific missionary endeavours in our prayers. We also provide regular feedback from our link missionaries to the congregation.
